Welcome to Zion
Zion UMC is a historic United Methodist Church that is committed to following Jesus and spreading God’s love in the Zion Crossroads community. We are devoted to engaging in the work of Christ through worship, discipleship, fellowship and mission, in a way that is relevant to all people. We prioritize being welcoming, Christ-centered, community focused, and authentically ourselves before God and one another. We believe that our lives are transformed in the love, support, and accountability of a community seeking to follow Jesus together. And we would love to have you join us.
Welcoming
We seek to value and include all of God’s beloved children.
We are a welcoming congregation that strives to mirror Christ’s unconditional love and acceptance of us. We include and accept all people, celebrating our differences as a reflection of God’s diverse kingdom. We value each person, and vow to do all in our power to care for and nurture one another throughout the life of faith. Being welcoming inspires us to create space for everyone to fully participate in the church and for relationships to flourish.
Christ-Centered
We seek to follow Jesus and depend upon grace.
We are a Christ-centered church that believes the most abundant life is lived in relationship with Jesus. We find comfort, guidance, and inspiration through the Bible, and believe that the teachings of Jesus are relevant to our lives. The climax of Scripture is the love, grace, and eternal life offered through Jesus. But we also recognize that none of us are perfect. We are always growing in love, and depend upon God’s grace to forgive and renew us when we fall short of God’s perfect love for us.
Authenticity
We seek integrity and openness with God and one another.
We are a church that lives with authenticity and integrity by opening ourselves to God and one another. We believe that being honest about the ups and downs of life and faith is the most transformative way of being in Christian community. Whether or not you are ready to share openly about yourself is up to you, but we as a congregation are committed to loving one another in the midst of triumph and tragedy, faith and doubt, celebration and grief - and everything in between.
Locally Focused
We seek to love and serve the Zion Crossroads community.
We are a community focused church, seeking to share the love, grace and message of Jesus in Zion Crossroads and the surrounding communities. We prioritize local mission opportunities and take seriously Jesus’ command to love our neighbors as ourselves. We dream of our church having a life changing impact on our neighbors.
